Steganography is the art and science of hiding information in digital media for secure digital communications. To the contrary of cryptography, steganography goal is to avoid drawing suspicion to the existence of a hidden secret message in the transmitted media. In this paper, we present the state of the art of steganographic techniques. Steganographic techniques can be applied to any digital media. However, in this paper, we discuss methods that hide secret information in digital images only. Digital images exist in two forms, spatial (uncompressed) and transform (compressed) domains. We discuss both forms and steganographic methods used for each form, as well as advantageous and disadvantageous of each type. Steganalysis is the investigation of hidden information in digital media, also have been outlined.
