Although, there are many methods that can be used to protect computer networks against viruses, they are still continuing to threaten and damage systems around the world. In this paper effect of computer viruses will be dealt with and hence we investigate some effective theoretical and practical methods that can be implemented to protect networks from viruses and recommend most suitable strategies that can practically used to achieve robust network protection from computer viruses. The paper will further discuss the characteristics of a fully engineered, proven, secure high-availability solution. Then, a hybrid protection strategy is suggested, which uses viruswall and firewall. It combines the ability to detect new previously unknown viruses’ attacks with high accuracy. Email filters and antivirus clustering with split gateways solutions are implemented for large corporation with intensive network traffic. This improves both network performance and availability. This work, help information networks managers and professionals to understand the issues they face when considering the threat caused by computer viruses and email and help them identify the specifics in order to develop a robust and reliable anti-virus policy in their organization.
