Spam is an inappropriate attempt to use an e-mail address, mailing list, newsgroup or other networked communications facility as if it was a broadcast medium by sending the same message to a large number of people who didn’t ask for it. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) defines a system for user to user multimedia communications. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) has evolved to become the dominant communications standard for real-time person-to-person Internet-based (IP) communications. The Spam problem in email is very common. But people are not familiar with Spam applied to SIP. This paper investigates and evaluates the techniques related to control the Spam over Internet Telephony (SPIT). The main focus of this paper is on the study of Anti-Spamming Techniques for the Instant Messaging (IM) Spam and Call Spam. Paper presents a summarized study of the approaches used and a hybrid solution in conclusion.
